"It takes a village to raise a child."

Born and raised in Barbados, Lori Poggione has lived in Visalia since 1999. She began teaching kindergarten at Sycamore Valley Academy in 2012. It is in Visalia that Lori met her husband Ron who is her rock and best friend. Ron and Lori are blessed with an amazing, creative, and artistic son Michael, who is a student at SVA.

A graduate of Mt. Whitney High School, College of the Sequoias and Fresno Pacific University, Lori currently attends Brandman University, where she is working on a MAT/Masters in Teaching. Lori taught and worked with 2 ½ - 5 year-olds in a preschool setting at a Montessori school in Visalia for thirteen years, and received a pre-primary Montessori certificate in 2004 from Montessori World in Cambria. Lori is thrilled to be part of the Sycamore Valley Academy's amazing and talented group of educators. She enjoys teaching young children because they are active and engaged; she believes that one of her primary functions as a teacher is to direct young children's spontaneous energies.
